If this is your first time learning with us, you might be wondering how it all works.

First thing we need to know: Is there someone you are planning to learn with? Or do you need Project Zug to match you with a havruta?

Exciting! Project Zug can match you with a havruta during one of our learning cycles. Each cycle runs about six weeks, when hundreds of people register and we have enough participants to make sure everyone gets paired with a havruta.

When registration opens for the learning cycle, here’s what you'll do:

1. choose a course class=
1. choose a course

From The Torah of Social Media to the laws of Kashrut, there’s a course for everyone. Courses are 4 to 10 sessions long, so you can choose one that fits your schedule. Explore our full course library, select your top choice, and pick 1-2 backups!

2. CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND REGISTER class=
2. CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND REGISTER

Share your learning background, interests, and course/havruta preferences to help us make a thoughtful match. The more details you give, the better we can connect you with a compatible havruta. After registering, you'll get a confirmation email with your learning start details.

3. MEET YOUR HAVRUTA class=
3. MEET YOUR HAVRUTA

When the learning cycle begins, you’ll receive access to all course materials and your havruta’s contact information through your Project Zug account and email. Reach out to your havruta to schedule your first meeting, when you will get to know each other and schedule to meet for one hour each week.

4. LEARN TOGETHER class=
4. LEARN TOGETHER

Whether you’re meeting in person or online, use the provided source sheets and short instructor videos to guide your learning. All materials are available anytime through your account. While we recommend covering one session per meeting, we encourage you to progress through the course at your own pace!

Great! You and your havruta can start a course together any time. Here's how it works:

FAQ

More
How do I find a havruta?

During four times of year that we call “learning cycles,” you can register for a course and be paired with a new havruta. You’ll be matched with someone based on information you provide in your registration such as: course preference, learning partner preferences, your bio, and more. Our team takes special care to match you with someone we think will be a great fit!

How are the courses structured?

Our courses tend to be 4 to 10 sessions long and we recommend a pace of one session per week. 4-session courses take approximately four weeks to complete, while 10-session courses take approximately 10 weeks to complete. The course content includes four short instructor videos featuring the creator of the course and a source sheet with explanations and discussion questions for each learning session. The source sheets are self-guided and designed to be learned by you and a partner. You may watch the instructor videos before your learning or during your time together.

Do I need to prepare in advance?

No, you do not need to prepare in advance of learning sessions. The material is designed to be studied together. You may choose to watch the instructor videos before or during your learning sessions.
